Engr. (Dr.) Paul Ugbe Bepeh (KSJI) FNimechE, National Chairman, Conference of Directors/ Chief Road Traffic Officers of the Federation (VIO).

Dr. Paul Ugbe Bepeh was elected the National Chairman of the conference in 2018 after the expiration of the tenure of Engr. Gaya Garuba. He had previously served as the National Vice Chairman in charge of South-South and South-East geopolitical zones of the country.

Bepeh hails from Obudu Local Government Area of Cross River State, born twins on February 25, 1968.

He holds:

  • A PhD in Transport Management and Safety
  • A Master’s degree in Transport Management Technology
  • A Post-Graduate Diploma in Transport Management Technology
  • A Post-Graduate Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
  • An HND in Mechanical Engineering

He attended:

  • Atlas University, USA
  • Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO)
  • Cross River State University of Technology (CRUTECH)
  • The Polytechnic Calabar (POLYCAL)

He joined the Cross River State Public Service in 1992 and has served in various capacities as:

  • Head of Department, Ministry of Works and Transport Training School
  • Zonal Engineer of the Area Commands in the three senatorial districts of the state
  • Rose to the rank of State Director, Road Traffic Services (VIO)

Bepeh is a recipient of various meritorious awards, including:

  • Best Youth Corper Award of Summer Engineering Company, Edo State, 1995
  • Best Public Servant Award, Ministry of Works and Transport, Calabar, 2009
  • Archbishop of Calabar Catholic Silver Jubilee Award, 2019
  • Best Engineering Award from the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Cross River State Chapter, 2023

He has attended several professional courses within and outside the country, such as:

  • Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON), Lagos
  • Conference of Mechanical Engineering Certified Evaluation

Popularly known as “Road Master”, Bepeh belongs to various professional bodies. He is:

  • A member of COREN
  • A Fellow of the Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers
  • A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Policy and Diplomatic Studies
  • A Fellow of the Nigerian Association of Technologists in Engineering, among others

An astute engineer, he has published several articles and journals and headed several technical committees. He is author of the famous road users book, “Driving Without Tears.”

He belongs to the Noble and Ancient Order of the Knights of St. John International.
